Congratulations on the new addition to your family!

Even if you’ve had a puppy or kitten before, it’s a good time to remind yourself of the basic healthcare that will keep your pet in tip-top condition. And if you haven’t previously had a pet, this leaflet will give you plenty of information on taking the best care of your new friend.

Routine healthcare

Once you’ve settled your pet into his or her new home, and introduced a safe, warm bed and toileting arrangements, it’s time to plan a healthcare schedule. Maintaining regular annual health checks and keeping up to date with a few simple preventative measures will ensure that your new puppy or kitten gets off to the best start for a long and happy life. The main things to consider are:

1. Vaccination
2. Flea Control
3. Worming
4. Neutering
5. Diet
6. Microchipping
7. Socialising*

*For puppies, we run weekly puppy training and socialisation classes on Thursday evenings.
