Dante is a very brave little cat. He has already had to undergo several major operations despite being only 1 and a half years old!
Godfrey is a young Burmese cat who has calicivirus. Calicivirus is something that we routinely vaccinate against as part of kitten vaccines and yearly boosters. There are various strains of the virus and some are more virulent than others. Infection can be fatal in some cases if signs are severe.
Please do not worry, there will always be an emergency vet available if required!
Ian and the team at Vet4life would like to wish you all a very happy holiday!
If you have a veterinary emergency over the Christmas period, you can rest assured we are on call 24/7. Please call 020 8977 3955.
Throughout your pet's life, their diets will change depending on their age or health status. Any change to your pet's food can be stressful for both you and your pet so we have prepared these handy tips to help your pet to accept the new diet and ensure the transition is as stress-free as possible.
Some advice from our head veterinary nurse Sarah, on supporting your pet during fireworks.
This beautiful Tawny owl is a patient being cared for at The Wildlife Aid Foundation in Leatherhead. He was not responding to any treatment tried for his left eye, which he continued to hold tightly closed. WAF were concerned he may have had glaucoma so urgently needed to test the intra-ocular pressure of the eye to diagnose this. They made an urgent appeal to borrow a Tonopen from a local vet surgery.
Are you going on holiday soon and will your dog be put into kennels? Does he or she need their kennel cough vaccine? Do be sure to make an appointment at Vet4life.
Orphan season is usually from March until August each year. This is when there are a high number of wildlife young born such as baby hedgehogs, fox cubs, badger cubs, fawn and lots of baby birds. Each animal has a variety of ways they help their babies grow up and leave their home, venturing into the big wide world. Baby animals may seem as if they have been abandoned, even though their parents are often very close by. Although it is tempting to assist these babies in acts of kindness, we recommend leaving them where they are and contacting your local wildlife rescue centre for advice. Wildlife Aid in Leatherhead is nearest to Teddington (their number is 09061 800132).
